A day in the life of Christine and Deb

Ok...so to give you all an idea of how we are spending our days, I will walk you through yesterday. We woke up around 9am, had a little bit of breakfast in our room (fresh pineapple is nummies), then we put on our suits, grabbed our books and went down to the hotel pool. We are paying about $20/night for our room and the hotel has a pool...not bad at all. We lounged there for a couple of hours, went back up to our room and had a nap. After all that hard work, a nap was well deserved, don't you think?

We ventured back outdoors just after 1pm, and went in the search of food. Found a little restaurant where we had phad that (which cost under $1) and a bowl of the spiciest prawn soup I have ever tasted. I had sweat on my brow and Deb's lips were bright red. To cool down we decided to go for a nice long walk on the beach. We walked for an hour and a half and still didn't make it to the end of the beach. But after all that walking we once again thought we deserved a reward so we went for an hour long foot massage (which cost under $6), we went to see a Thai movie called "loveaholic' and then we went out for dinner at an Italian restuarant. Had caprese salad (the mozzarella was fresh) and linguini with prawns (the linguini was homemade). Had some italian ice cream somewhere in there as well.

Today we are going to see the summer palace of the king and probably swim some more, eat some more seafood and go for another walk on the beach. The temperature hovers around 30-35 which sounds much more appealing than the 45 with humidity I am hearing Toronto is getting.

I will drink some Singha beer for all of you.

an explanation of the photos below

OK...so let me explain some of the photos below so you know what you are looking at. The sign is kind of funny...we saw that at a restaurant in Shimla, Northern India and I had to take a picture simply because it was such an absurd sign. The food is specifically for my friend Kim in BC...it was one of our 1st meals in Bangkok and it was delish! The next couple of shots are Shimla and my friend Munir's temple in his house...and the last shot is the traffic in Bangkok.

Next group of shots....these are mostly of the kids at my friend Munir's school in Shimla. The Gurunkul International School. How the man washing pots ended up in that group is a mystery to me. Fairly obvious I would hope that he is not a student at the school :)

The next shots are from Manali and Dharamsala...the guy is my friend Munir and the last shot is me enjoying some Thai food in Bangkok. I should have organized these much better....but really, who has the time, when the swimming pool is calling your name? And of course that one shot is of the craziest movie theatre I have ever been to. It was in India and it showed movies on priated cd that weren't even out in the theatres yet. But here is the kicker...you had to take a spiral staircase down to the theatre...and it was below a convenience store. Bizarre!

The last shots are all from Northern India. Enjoy. I will try to post some more while we are still at Ben's where he has a MAC and I have endless time on the computer. Sigh...oh the luxuries of life.
