Parksville, BC

Arrived on Vancouver Island yesterday. We are at a resort in Parksville called High-Na-Mara...it is lovely. Today my day started at 7am (what is up with that?)...don't think I am used to the time change yet. Went for a walk down to the beach...ahhh lovely. Then went for a swim in the pool, sat in the jacuzzi for a while. Not a bad day and it is not even noon yet!

My friend Kim is back in the room resting. It is wonderful to be here with her...it is like a small holiday for her as well. Tomorrow I think we are going to spend some time at the spa. I am going to have a pedicure simply because the brochure says they have a 'pedicure throne'(Gary if you are reading this copy does work!). Kim is going to have a mud wrap and then we are going to chill in the mineral baths for a while.

The whales start their travels this week, so we might go check them out. It is magical here...already I feel a sense of calm and I haven't even left Canada. Things are looking good.

Well I guess it seems fitting that my first post be from Toronto. Only 2 more days and I am off.

Things are really coming together. Deb and I will officially be building homes in Sri Lanka...thanks to some very generous donations from friends and family...thank you! And it also looks like we will be doing some volunteer work in Cambodia. It is all very exciting. Who knew that our trip would take this turn? Not me...but now that it has it feels so right. Like the trip has a true purpose. I can't wait to see what the year has in store for us.
